Peoria Sports Complex adds temporary relief amenities for Spring Training fans during upcoming heat wave

March 12, 2026 - With unseasonably high temperatures forecasted for the Valley next week, fans attending Spring Training games at the Peoria Sports Complex are encouraged to hydrate before arriving, bring bottled water and sports drink to help stay hydrated throughout the game, bring personal umbrellas for individual shade, wear sunscreen, and take advantage of added cooling areas throughout the ballpark.

Games scheduled March 14 through March 23 featuring the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres are expected to draw large crowds during a week of above-average March temperatures. Peoria Sports Complex has prepared multiple adjustments to help fans stay safe and comfortable.

Cool Down Zones Around the Ballpark

Fourteen temporary zones will be added around the stadium where fans can step in front of high-powered evaporative cooling fans and take a quick break from the heat.

Call to the Bullpen for Relief

Three popular partially shaded zones in the ballpark now have temporary misting systems to help fans cool off during games:

  • Four Peaks Pavilion Tent (Left Field)
  • West Coast Beer Garden Patio (Right Field)
  • Sammy’s on 3rd Terrace Deck (Third Base side, second level)

Adjusted Beverage Policy

To encourage hydration, Peoria Sports Complex will temporarily relax the beverage admission policy allowing both sealed bottles of sports drinks in addition to bottled water into the ballpark.

Kids Day Brings Extra Splash

Families attending Kids Days on Sunday, March 15 and Sunday, March 22 will find extra ways for young fans to cool off. Two inflatable water slide attractions will be set up at Peoria Cove Field. The Cove seating area features permanent misting fans. There is also a splash pad in the Cove Playground.
